EXPERTISE

Chemical Engineering: distillation, material & energy balance, thermodynamics, process control, troubleshoot, simulation (HYSYS, ChemCAD, Matlab), developing PFD, P&ID (AutoCAD) and SOPs, porous media flows.
Chemistry: colloid, nanoparticles and surface science.
Mechanical Engineering: computational fluid dynamics, finite-element analysis, finite-volume analysis, 3D mesh generation.
Computer Programming: C/C++, Windows, Linux, Scripting, Parallel Computing
Technical writing and presentation: literature/background research, conference presentation and poster demonstration.

EXPERIENCE

Lead Physics Teacher, Joseph S. Clark Preparatory High School, New Orleans, Louisiana; August 2015 – Present
-Teaching senior- level physics (Mechanics, Optics, Acoustics, electromagnetics) to at-risk students in a non-selective, open admissions urban environment.
-Providing mentorship while preparing students for college success by helping them improve their ACT scores.

Post-Doctoral Fellow, Center for Computation and Technology, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; May 2014 – February 2015

-Solved the problem of single/multi-phase fluid flow through various conventional and unconventional porous media using an image-based approach relying on high-resolution meshes via OpenFOAM CFD toolbox (written in C++)
-Studied the scalability, speed-up and performance of Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessor technology.
-Investigated the effects of partial ordering of constituent particles of cylinder packs in heat and mass transfer.

Graduate Research Assistant, Chemical Engineering Department, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; August 2006 – May 2014
Developed a 3D micro-CT image-based, pore-scale finite element (FEM) model to investigate pore-scale fluid flow behavior and to quantify petrophysical properties of conventional and unconventional reservoirs (using C++, Fortran, and Matlab).
Performed benchmark studies to assure the accuracy of the in house developed flow solver and mesh generator.
Developed fast, customized 2D and 3D visualization codes using MATLAB Graphics and HPC resources to demonstrate drag force distribution, pressure and velocity fields on clusters of particles inside porous media.
Performed teaching assistant duties as prescribed by the chemical engineering department, to include substitute lecturer, grader, and exam proctor for a variety of courses: unit operations, numerical methods, thermodynamics, process control, fluid mechanics, catalysis.

Engineering Intern, Planning & Research Division, National Petrochemical Company; Tehran, Iran; May 2005 August 2005

Prepared an economical feasibility study of a prospective petrochemical complex (a polyethylene production unit) using COMFAR III software to simulate the short- and long-term financial and economic situation of petrochemical investment projects.
Assisted in design and preparation of front end engineering drawings (PFDs & P&IDs).

Teacher, Dr. Hesabi High School, Tehran, Iran; September 2002 – March 2003
Lead math teacher conducting multiple classes (20-30 students) on number theory, probability, calculus, trigonometry, geometry and algebra preparing students to take the highly-competitive national entrance exam of Iranian universities.
